The challenge
The operator had drilled the acreage before with inconsistent results: spud-to-spud times varied by more than 40% across a six-well programme, with most of the variance appearing in the curve and in rig-move time between wellheads.
Our approach
We reviewed every offset well on the acreage before mobilising, standardised the BHA and bit programme across all eight wells, and moved to a walking substructure that repositioned between wellheads without rigging down. Daily performance was measured against the plan and reviewed with the operator each morning.
The outcome
Spud-to-spud time reduced progressively across the pad, with the final wells drilled materially faster than the programme average and no recordable incidents across the campaign.
