Common questions

Straight answers to what operators ask us before they contract. Nothing here is a slogan - if the honest answer is "it depends", we say so.

Most popular questions

Before you contract

These are the questions operators actually ask us - grouped so you can find yours quickly.

Working with us

What it is like to contract Century Solutions, and who we are a good fit for.

Three things, and none of them are slogans. We plan before we mobilise, so the well you approved is the well that gets drilled. We report variance early, while you can still act on it. And we staff programmes for continuity, so the crew on your third well already knows your acreage. Those are ordinary commitments - they are simply ones we actually keep.

Frequently. Our project management practice exists specifically for operators who need senior well delivery capability for a defined campaign without carrying it as permanent headcount. We can manage the full programme, including contractors other than ourselves.

Either. Every one of our nine service lines is available on its own - operators regularly contract us for rig moving, HSE supervision or well testing alone, including on locations run by other contractors. Where you would rather one party owned the whole sequence, we can take that too.

Usually one of three things: take a scope your current provider does not cover, provide independent oversight of a programme someone else is executing, or run a technical review before you commit to the next campaign. If your existing contractor is doing the job well, we will say so.

It depends entirely on the scope and on current fleet commitments. A routine well service call is a different conversation from a multi-well pad programme needing a rig released and moved. Tell us the location and timing and you will get a real answer rather than an optimistic one.

Operations & delivery

How programmes are planned, executed and reported.

Yes - extended-reach laterals, high-temperature geothermal wells, complex fishing and remediation, and multi-unit refinery turnarounds are all within our scope. Where a project needs specialist capability we do not hold in-house, we say so and coordinate the right provider rather than improvising.

By measuring against the plan daily and telling you the truth about the result. Connection times, non-productive time and cost against AFE are tracked continuously and reported to you, not just to us. Overruns rarely arrive as one large event; they accumulate through small variances nobody owned, and daily reporting is what stops that.

We provide land-based services across the major US onshore basins and into Western Canada, with corporate offices in San Diego, California. Our operating areas and the scopes available in each are listed on the About page. If your location is outside them, ask anyway - mobilisation is often practical.

A daily report against the plan covering progress, cost against AFE, any non-productive time and its cause, and safety events including near misses. The point of daily reporting is that variance reaches you while it is still recoverable, so we would rather send an uncomfortable report early than a comfortable one late.

Routinely. Most of our well servicing and workover activity is on wells drilled by someone else. Send us the completion record and recent production history and we will plan from there.

Yes. Production interruptions do not schedule themselves, and our operations line is staffed around the clock for existing programme clients.

Safety & environment

How we manage HSE, and what we can do for your own operations.

Safety is managed as operational performance rather than as compliance paperwork. Every person on location holds genuine stop-work authority, job safety analysis is completed before work begins, and near misses are investigated as seriously as injuries. Environmentally, pad drilling, fuel-efficient power packages and disciplined waste management reduce the footprint of each well. Our full programme is set out on the Safety page.

Yes. Independent site safety supervision is one of our most common standalone scopes, including on locations operated by other contractors. We also develop safety management systems, deliver training and support environmental compliance and reporting.

The job stops, and nothing happens to the person who stopped it. Stop-work events are recorded and reviewed as leading indicators rather than as failures - a crew that has watched colleagues use that authority without consequence is a crew that will use it when it matters.

Current safety statistics, insurance certificates, training and competency records and contractor prequalification documentation are supplied with every tender and prequalification submission. Ask and we will send the current pack.

Commercial

Contracts, quotations and confidentiality.

Daywork is most common for development programmes, footage and turnkey suit certain exploration and fixed-scope work, and service work is generally priced per job or on a call-off basis. We will recommend the structure that fits your programme, including when that is not the one most profitable for us.

Use the Request a Quote form with your location, target depth, timing and scope, and we will respond with a costed proposal. If you would rather talk it through first, call +1 (858) 888-9993 - you will reach someone who has been on a rig, not a call centre.

Most quotes go back within two business days. An operations lead reviews the scope rather than a sales inbox, and if something needs clarifying we will call and ask rather than assume. If your timing is tighter than that, say so in the form and we will work to it.

Yes. Technical details about your wells, fields or facilities are treated as commercially confidential. We do not publish client programme details, and the case studies on this site are published only with the relevant client's agreement.

Careers

For people looking to join our crews rather than contract them.

Yes. Most of our drillers started on the floor without a day of rig experience. If you are reliable, physically fit and willing to learn, we provide the training and certification - and the path from floorhand to derrickhand to driller to rig manager is documented, with people here who have walked all of it.

Send your resume to careers@centurysolutionsrig.com anyway. We keep good people on file and crews turn over, so a speculative application is worth making.

Let's talk about your next well.

Send us the location, depth and timing and you will get a costed response from someone who has worked the job - not a brochure.
